Pros and cons of Harrison's Manual of Medicine app for iPhone and iPad

Harrison's Manual of Medicine app good for

This is a response to the question regarding the reason for so many one-star reviews. Many people misunderstand and feel the content of this application is free, although it is clearly stated in the description that it is free for current customers and new customers must purchase content from Unbound Medicine. Hence they give a bad review when they un-install. Those customers that purchased the application are very happy with its performance.
Another reviewer already mentioned the problem with the figures. This is the first application I have purchased for iPhone that would allow viewing of the figures. I wasted a great deal of money on others only to find that they required flash players. The information in this tool is useful but it is always better to see what they are talking about. Its too bad they did not take advantage of the touch screen size control of the iPhone. I think all the one star reviews are from people who do not know how expensive reference books are. This is not a toy. If they can improve the figures and maintain the quality of information, I will continue my subscription indefinitely.
This is helpful for the quick review of things that are updated or things that you have not seen for a while or even considered in your differential. It was not an in depth view of most things but it helps when you dont want to lug out the 20 pound text. Easy transfer to my new phone from old and appreciate that.
Doesnt have everything but its an abridged version with major stuff

Some bad moments

It says "free" but it is free for subscribed costumers only. After downloading, application asks for a username and a password. why bother? one can buy a Harrisons Manual from iTunes store.
first of all, this is not the same as the electronic version of harrisons that i have access to through my medical school library. it is much briefer, and there are topics that are not even covered at all. i was hoping to essentially have the entire textbook on my iPhone - that was well worth $60. but instead, where there is a page on the electronic version, there is a paragraph at best on the mobile version. second, the search function is awful. half of the topics i type in for search never even register. for example, this morning i wanted to read about PCOS. so i typed in "PCOS" and "Polycystic Ovarian ..." neither one brought back a result. "Vitiligo" brings back nothing. Ditto "Graves disease" major improvement is necessary.
Please include an index as well as a better search function. Its very tough to find many conditions without a proper index like in the hard copy text.
Search function is horrible. Useless to use on the wards. No info on practical treatment of diseases, only generalities. Totally uncomparable with pocket version of Harrissons.
